I’m mentally working out the timelines a bit… this occurs long enough after the accident for Mitsuki to have given up swimming and be looking for a job, but still within the course of their senior year (although they’ve switched back to winter uniforms by this point).

It’s painful to see Shinji witness his close friends self-destruct because of one event, and he can’t do anything about it, like watching a train wreck in slow motion.

The entire timeline happens within a year, from meeting, to romance, to tragedy, and despair. Kiminozo is one of my favorite scenarios, even if I thought parts of the story could have been executed better.
